Boarding school applications for September 2027: month-by-month timeline

For a September 2027 start, now is the time to begin. Here is an indicative timeline; each school sets its own dates, which we check with you.
October – November 2026
Thinking and shortlisting
Define the plan and 3–5 schools.
Clarify the reason, target diploma and budget. Draw up a first list of schools and request brochures and fees.
November 2026 – February 2027
Visits and open days
Visit with your child.
Schools organise visits and meetings, sometimes in Paris. Prepare questions on boarding life and supervision.
January – March 2027
Applications
Reports, motivation letter, references.
Gather the last two years of school reports, a motivation letter and, if required, level or language tests.
February – April 2027
Interviews and tests
Often possible by video.
The interview focuses on the child's motivation and plans. Good preparation reassures them.
April – June 2027
Offers and confirmation
Deposit and contract.
Schools reply and ask for a deposit to secure the place. Check cancellation terms before signing.
Summer 2027
Getting ready
Permit, insurance, packing.
For Switzerland: residence permit request with the canton, health insurance and documents. A summer camp can ease the transition.
